Melanie Smith started volunteering for Near & Far Aid Association in 1968.  She has served on the Board for over 26 years and as its President 1986 - 1988.  She has chaired all Fundraising events and most recently concentrates on House Tour.  She has worked on and chaired for years the Corporate Underwriting Committee.  Melanie has been a Real Estate Broker in the area for 30 years – her company was Jensen-Smith Real Estate, which was acquired by Prudential CT Realty in 2000.  She has for several years been Chairman of the Professional Standards & Ethics Committees and currently serves on the Grievance Committee of the Greater Fairfield Board of Realtors.  Melanie lives in Southport and has a grown son and daughter and five grandchildren.  She has been very active over the years and an officer in the Jr. League of Eastern Fairfield County, Sasqua Garden Club and the Connecticut Dance School
